Sono Vaso is Italian for I am a vessel. This is our tribute to every pregnant woman who is indeed a vessel bearing new life, in body and in spirit.  We believe that every woman should look and feel her best during pregnancy and early motherhood, in cool, soft, effortless fashion. 

Our vision is to create a fashion-forward and affordable maternity clothing label for the modern pregnant woman's lifestyle.

We have styles for all occasions, including career dressing, stylish lounging and special events. 

Sono Vaso is known for both our seasonal fashion collections and our wardrobe of maternity basics, labelled Essenziale.  This collection showcases great essential pieces for the modern, active woman – “can’t-live-without” tank tops, skirts, dresses, pants, leggings and nursing tops.  



Sono Vaso retails internationally through our online shopping boutique and at selected partner retail locations in the USA, Australia, Sweden, China and Hong Kong, with sizes ranging from XS to L – check out our size guide for more details.  

We love the environment and we respect lives, so we are extra careful in the selection of our fabrics, using natural fibres that are good for you and good for the environment. We also have a heartfelt commitment to participating in our communities.

Sono Vaso was founded in 2007 by long-time Hong Kong residents Melanie McInally (from Australia) and Rita Yaworsky (from Sweden), who brought with them a wealth of experience from working at some of the world’s leading fashion brands. Their professionalism and industry experience are seen in the quality and value offer of the brand.

NATURAL FABRICS

At Sono Vaso we select mainly natural fibres for our fabrics.  During pregnancy, a woman’s core body temperature rises leaving her prone to becoming hot and uncomfortable. Wearing lighter, natural-fibre clothing allows the skin to breathe, creating the conditions for coolness and comfort, both day and night.  

Not only are natural fibres in vogue around the world, they are often a more environmentally conscious option. Fabrics from natural fibres tend to be longer lasting, too, and more comfortable on the skin. Our fabrics: 

A fibre made by Lenzing, Modal is made from 100% beech wood pulp, a natural raw material, it is the perfect fibre worn next to the skin as it breathes naturally like cotton.  Modal has a luxurious, sensual softness.  Long lasting, it is made to be washed again and again yet retain its softness and colour. Best of all, the fibre is a bi-product of the timber industry from sustained forestry plantations and produced in the highest environmental standards.

Silk:  As a natural fibre, silk is cool and breathes when worn close to the skin, even in warm weather. Elegance has never been more comfortable.  

Cotton:  Lightweight and cool to wear, perfect for maternity clothing.

Linen:  Made from fibres of the flax plant, it is perfect for feeling cool and fresh in hot weather. 

* Some of our fabrics have small percentages man made fibres; Spandex for stretch, and Nylon in our Lambswool sweater knits for lighter weight and better wash and wear qualities.
