Colour, Colour, Colour!
Spring|Summer ’13 is all about bright colour in coral, electric blue, bright mauve, buttercup yellow, Atlantis aqua and timeless black & white.
Flowing viscose dresses are punctuated with cinched-in belts and hemlines are maxi long in elongated sheath dresses in cuts that allow the body to move freely and create discreet curves.
Body conscious jerseys and draping follow the trend in pencil slim shapes, simply following the contours of the body. Asymmetry remains a key feature; shoulders and arms show off for the summer.
Lace and lattice patterns in soft cotton poplins bring femininity and ease; the lacy dress is a seasonal must.
Engineered stripes and chevrons with a sporty influence are strong for SS’13. Mixed jersey stripes in body-con knits and fine 12 gauge sweater knits in multi-colored yarn-dye stripes are perfect for chic statement dressing. The tank dress and tee dress are key pieces for the season.
We introduce our new Power denim – mechanical stretch jeans wear collection with skinny leg and mini skirt styles.
Our design philosophy is “Think fashion first - translate the trend into maternity.” We dress the beautiful woman with the beautiful bump! The name “Sono Vaso” is Italian for I am a vessel – a tribute to the fact that every pregnant woman is indeed a vessel bearing new life, in body and in spirit.

Sono Vaso Fall|Winter 2012
The name “Sono Vaso” is Italian for I am a vessel – a tribute to the fact that every pregnant woman is indeed a vessel bearing new life, in body and in spirit.
We’ve incorporated global trends with a hint of modern luxury, with minimal silhouettes in luxurious fabrics. Key trends for the season include nostalgia for the retro looks of the 70s – think Mary Tyler Moore!
The “bright” statement continues to make an impact in global colour trends; poppy and red being the key colours for F|W’12-13. Brights of emerald and purple are subdued by mink, black and dove grey.
Simplified and iconic silhouettes are on-trend in asymmetric “cold shoulder” dresses, column shapes, maxi lengths, shift dresses, draped and halter styles.
Sweater knits take on new directions with the fine gauge sweater dress and elongated wrap cardigan. Jacquard patterns are key in 70’s geos, dots and atmospheric space-dyed yarns.
Fabrics and yarns include our signature ultra-comfortable Modal/spandex jersey, matte and shiny viscose jerseys, viscose/cotton jacquards and Merino wool blended yarns in soft sweater knits.
Bridal dresses follow trend in flowing viscose jersey with statement beading. Each style is available in ivory for bridal and black for evening.
The Sono Vacanza resortwear collection is targeted at all women, for easy style before – during – and after pregnancy. Modal/spandex jersey silhouettes in asymmetric maxis, long tunics and loungewear pants trimmed in our signature trapunto stitched silk sateen are perfect for the city or beach vacay.
Our design philosophy is “Think fashion first - translate the trend into maternity.” We dress the beautiful woman with the beautiful bump!

Sono Vaso Spring/Summer 2012
a Tuscan romance
Viva la dolce vita! Sono Vaso’s Spring/Summer ’12 collection for the modern, sophisticated pregnant woman takes its inspiration from the sun-drenched colors, the rich history, the culture, and the oh-so-relaxed lifestyle of Tuscany.
We’ve incorporated global trends with a hint of modern luxury, with minimal silhouettes in luxurious fabrics. Other key trends for the season include nostalgia for the classic looks of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, and a return to the prim, proper, ultra-feminine style of the “ladies who lunch”.
Global color trends indicate a huge shift into greens, deep spruce and pine shades, blues, orange-cast citrus tones and base colors, ink, sandstone, earth hues, gold and bronze, khaki, white, and ivory.
For our S/S’12 collection, we celebrate the colors of the sunlight-kissed Tuscan earth: grass green, orangeade, navy blue, red, charcoal, silver, gold, bronze and the natural color spectrum.
Fabric choices include our signature fabric, the ultra-comfortable Modal/spandex jersey, plus cotton jerseys and poplins, silk sateens, textured shantung and matte Crepe de Chine silk, sweater knit tape yarns, and matte and shiny viscose jerseys.
With design touches such as silk sateen trims, bold embellishments, and ultra-chic silhouettes, the collection features fitted and loose tunics, capri pants, shirt dresses, classic shirts, flowing maxi lengths, boat necks, nautical stripes, statement color-blocked beading, rustic metallic sequins, and maxi evening and bridal gowns with dramatic draping.
Our bridal dresses follow the minimal trend in flowing viscose jersey with statement beading. Each style is available in ivory for bridal and black for evening, which completes the evening range of shiny viscose jersey styles.
Our design philosophy is “Think fashion first and translate the trend into maternity.” We’re not just dressing the beautiful bump; we’re dressing the beautiful woman with the beautiful bump!

Maternity Fashion for Autumn/Winter 2011 Heads to Morocco
- Local brand Sono Vaso inspired by the streets of Marrakesh
Hong Kong-based international maternity-wear brand Sono Vaso will launch its Autumn/Winter 2011 range on September 1. The range is inspired by the streets of Marrakesh plus the latest global trends in “Boho Luxe” and “1950s Glamour”.
Ms Melanie McInally, a Director of Sono Vaso and the brand’s designer, said: “I was inspired by the Middle-Eastern tunic style of dressing – it’s comfortable, and it fits women of all shapes and sizes. I love travel and history and I love reading books about the country. So nearly a year ago, when I saw a book with luscious photos of the streets of Marrakesh, with their rich red and blue colours, I knew I’d found my inspiration for our Autumn/Winter 2011 range.”
The range includes:
• INES: fitted short tunic that works well with jeans and black pants
• ITA: long A-line tunic to wear with leggings
• SERENA: maxi tunic for evening wear
• LUCIA: simple, stylish sheath dress, Sono Vaso’s version of the LBD (Little Black Dress) and LRD (Little Red Dress)
• STELLA, ANITA, VIOLA: Wrap dresses, wrap tops and shawl collar wrap cardigans
• ORNELLA, REGINA: shirt dress and shirt top in jersey
• VALENTINA, ZARAH, VALERIA: Sweater knits in Merino wool blends
• CECELIA, CARA, CARI: Stretch pants and leggings in soft, flowing Modal fabric (made from environmentally friendly regenerated beech wood)
Other influences on Sono Vaso’s Autumn/Winter 2011 range are “Boho Luxe” and “1950s Glamour”. Ms McInally explained: “These are global fashion trends for AW11-12 that we’ve researched in our design direction over the past year. ‘Boho Luxe’ is all about fluid, flowing shapes accented with a touch of luxe. So for example, all our tunics feature a silk satin trim at the neckline and cuffs. And ‘1950s Glamour’ is about ladylike Hollywood glamour, as epitomised by Grace Kelly.”
Ms McInally’s business partner and Co-Director of Sono Vaso, Ms Rita Yaworksky, commented: “We don’t think of maternity first; we think fashion first, then translate global fashion trends into maternity wear. So we’re dressing the beautiful woman with a beautiful bump.”
What women say about Sono Vaso:
Camilla Lackberg, Sweden’s number-1-selling author, July 2010
“Whilst I was pregnant with my third child Charlie, I totally lived in my Sono Vaso wardrobe. I was very busy promoting my books at the time and did numerous interviews, radio and TV appearances as well as fairs and seminars around Europe, which of course involved a lot of travelling… I get whisked away straight from the airport to the first interview and then it goes on to the next one through the day and finally a late dinner! This is hard work at the best of times and wearing clothes that can work through all this at the same time as looking one’s best, is not always easy. The Sono Vaso stretchy Modal dresses were my absolute life-saver during these events, together with styles like Camilla (yes, named after me!) and Cara leggings.”
Linda, Hong Kong, April 2009
“Frankly most pregnancy clothing is hideous - but if your taste runs more DNKY/ Calvin Klein that Laura Ashley you should check out this range. I love the fabrics and the ease with which one can wear them! Not a frill or complicated top in sight. I am still wearing their basic black skirt after giving birth (and am a size 12 again) and love their PJs - which actually look sexy (v.unusual for breastfeeding tops) and feel great."

Sono Vaso’s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection
The Perfect Babymoon Wardrobe
Lifestyle Maternity Wear Brand for Chic Mothers-to-be
Now Available Worldwide at www.sonovaso.com
Sono Vaso, high-fashion maternity wear brand, makes shopping for your Babymoon outfits a breeze with their Spring/Summer 2011 “Portofino Summer” Collection.
To celebrate the Babymoon travel trend, Sono Vaso’s latest collection embodies the resortwear feel of a great vacation wardrobe with comfort and chic styling for the modern pregnant woman.
According to the ChicagoTribune.com: “when couples marry, they traditionally go on a honeymoon. Now many parents-to-be take it one step further and go on a babymoon. Almost 60% of new parents (according to a BabyCenter.com and Liberty Travel survey in 2005) take some sort of babymoon, enjoying a “last hurrah” trip. Defined as a special trip for couples who want one last fling before their new baby arrives, the babymoon is designed to help expectant couples spend what remains of their quiet time together and to reconnect, relax and rejuvenate.”
Inspired by the long hot days of a Portofino summer, the SS’11 collection reflects the metallics of ancient bronze artifacts and the nautical stripes of Italian coasts. The season is light and airy, using our signature Modal/Spandex jersey and lightweight Cotton/Silks.
The colours reflect this season’s obsession with the Nude palette; faded Charcoal teamed with Nude, Khaki, Black, and embellished with Bronze, Gold and Silver matt sequins. The collection is popped with Peach and Electric Blue in strong solids.
“Black/White stripes are on right on trend in our new summer Evelina Maxi dress and pleat front Maurizia Magyar dress and Maura top. The focus is to bring comfort and style to the modern pregnant woman, we have taken the trends of the season and morphed them into super chic and easy-to-wear styles such as the Ruby Sequinned Tunic, Geonna Shift Dress and Evelina Maxi” says Creative Director Melanie McInally.
About Sono Vaso
Sono Vaso is Italian for I am a vessel – a tribute to the fact that every pregnant woman is indeed a vessel bearing new life, in body and in spirit. Founded by long time Hong Kong residents Melanie McInally and Rita Yaworsky, Sono Vaso focuses on translating womenswear trends into maternity wear styles. Having worked all of their professional lives in fashion and textiles, Melanie and Rita started Sono Vaso in 2007 with a clear goal of “fashion, trends and lifestyle”. From there, Sono Vaso was born and built into the high quality international brand that it is today; selling in USA, Australia, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong and China.
As well as seasonal fashion collections, Sono Vaso is known for its must-have wardrobe of maternity basics labelled Essenziale. A range of essentials for the modern, professional, active woman; Essenziale includes can’t-live-without tank tops, skirts, dresses, pants, leggings and nursing tops.
Fabrics at Sono Vaso have a conscious, with fabrics being natural, cool, and breathable - good for both mother and baby. During pregnancy, a woman’s core body temperature rises leaving her prone to becoming hot and uncomfortable. Wearing lighter, natural-fibre clothing allows the skin to breathe, creating the conditions for coolness and comfort, both day and night. Fabrics from natural fibres tend to be longer lasting, too, and more comfortable on the skin.
“We aim to make shopping a relaxing pleasure for expecting mothers and new moms, who can now shop from the comfort of their home or office. Our online boutique brings fashion maternity to your fingertips - delivered right to your door. Our styles are high quality, comfortable and affordable, and we are often complimented on how our clothing can be worn casually or professionally yet always fashionably,” said Rita Yaworsky, Co-founder and Director.
Sono Vaso sizes are from XS to L, with a detailed sizing guide available online.
We will gladly assist with loaning garments for editorial use.
